This trail takes you along the South Platte River and offers beautiful sights. It is mainly on a dirt road as it steadily climbs to the dam. Before you get to Stephens Gulch, you will pass Bear Gulch and Mill Gulch. Take a left before Lenny’s bench and complete the top loop. Left, left — then head back down the road to return to the beginning.

Solo. Steady. Purposeful.

This mimicked my Day 1 of TRT — a long, gradual climb with miles that stack up quietly. The kind of day that reminds you what your legs are capable of when you just keep going.
